How to Fight Back
Since becoming President this past January, Donald Trump and his administration have belittled long-held American ideals and disparaged the things and people who make this country truly great.
From pulling out of the Paris Agreement, to announcing transgender people won’t be able to serve their country, to threatening DACA and our Dreamers, Trump has relentlessly attacked American values and citizens. This week’s criticism of the NFL and NBA—whose players have peacefully protested racism and police brutality—is only the latest item on a long list.
We know that it gets exhausting to follow the news and that it’s depressing to read about the latest bill or executive order (we’ve learned to dread looking at our phone screens and seeing a NYTimes or CNN notification). But it’s more important than ever to continue to fight back. We must persist if we’re going to combat the hatred and bigotry and effect meaningful, positive change.
We’ve put together a list of organizations that you can get involved in about the issues you’re passionate about. Whether you donate or volunteer your time, every little bit counts.
- Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund
- Southern Poverty Law Center
- Council on American-Islamic Relations
This list is by no mean’s exhaustive, so please comment below with organizations that you’re involved with. Thank you for reading, and thank you for doing your part!
