Rex Woodbury and Ian Spear. Two Hands Blog.

Hey everyone! We started this site to share a bit of our lives with others, but soon realized we would rather use this platform to discuss and raise awareness about issues that are important to us.

The title of our site, Two Hands, is a reference to an Audrey Hepburn quote.

“As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands: one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.” 

We both feel very fortunate to have had incredible opportunities and support throughout our lives, and try to do what we can to pass on some of that to others. Our parents instilled in us the value of giving back, and we’ve tried to stay true to that.

This site is an extension of that effort and represents a way for us to do our small part to help others.

Rex Woodbury

Rex graduated from Dartmouth in 2015, where he studied Economics and competed on the Track & Field team. After graduation, he moved to Manhattan and spent two years working as an investment banking analyst. He still runs recreationally, recently completing the New York, Chicago, and Boston marathons. He’s even known to occasionally run while wearing a suit. Rex moved to San Francisco with Ian to start a new chapter. He now works as a growth equity investor, investing in young and promising businesses with a social purpose. Rex is passionate about social entrepreneurship, digital media, and politics. You can usually find Rex listening to podcasts at the gym, consuming an unhealthy amount of news, or eating peanut butter out of the jar.

Ian Spear

Ian Spear

Ian is originally from Chicago and recently graduated from Yale, where he majored in Economics and East Asian Studies. He has spent time living in both Beijing and Hong Kong and is interested in international development and U.S.-China relations. Ian recently moved to San Francisco and started his first job as a management consultant. In his spare time, he enjoys planning future adventures, testing out new recipes, and running (though he’s not nearly as fast as Rex).
